Your Ceremony of Love in a Historic Japanese House

"Make your wedding day, anniversary, or renewal of vows as timeless as
your love. Experience the grace, artistry and refinement of a
traditional Japanese ceremony of love and devotion in the historic
setting of a Kyoto merchant’s home! "

Beauty, grace, joy, tradition, style, good luck! Your wedding in Japan is all of these.

For your wedding, everything must be perfect. What better place than Japan, where we define perfection as the union of beauty, grace, joy, tradition and style.

Dressed in fine silk kimonos, you exchange your vows in a traditional merchant’s home, then proceed (by rickshaw, if you like) to a nearby temple for blessings on your new family.

It’s a very special ceremony for your very special day. Please let us do it for you!

Honeymoon in Japan

Start your married life in the land of serenity and tradition . . .in Japan! You'll don a traditional kimono-black for the groom and snow-white for the radiant bride-and raise a glass of sake to affirm your commitment Japanese-style. Of course, we'll arrange to have a photographer on hand to record the exotic beginning of your life together. Then, off you go, from throbbing Tokyo to luxuriate in a secluded spa in the Nikko mountains, and onward to Mount Fuji, and a panoply of unforgettable sensations that you'll always treasure.

Experience the grace, artistry and refinement of a traditional Japanese wedding ceremony in the historic setting of a Kyoto merchant’s home!

Your memorable special day begins with a tour of the 120-year-old house to prepare you for the lovely ceremony to come. We explain the history of Japan, its marriage customs, and the furnishings and decorations of this traditional home. When the house tour is done, you’ll eagerly look
forward to the truly timeless moment when you will exchange vows as they have been exchanged by loving couples for centuries in our country.

Following your tour of the house, you, the bride and groom, prepare for the ceremony by dressing in beautiful wedding kimonos and practicing movement in these supremely graceful, comfortable costumes.

Appropriately dressed, you proceed to the inner sanctum of the guest
house, where the ceremony takes place.

Your service begins with traditional welcomes and the bestowal of sacred Japanese bracelets to the betrothed couple. The officiant describes the blessed, happy state of marriage, and prepares the couple for their exchange of vows.

You exchange vows of love, respect and devotion with your beloved in the time-honored way.

The officiant pronounces you husband and wife, and you pledge your vows by sharing a ceremonial toast of sake, drinking three times each from a three-tiered cup. Having sipped the sake and pledged your love, the officiant pronounces a blessing and benediction, and the formal ceremony is concluded.

A congratulatory dance is performed by a professional dancer in your honor. After the dance, it’s time to immortalize your happiness in photographs, so you may tell members of your wedding party to flash away!

If you wish, you may now have the officiant lead the way, bearing lanterns, to the nearby Seimei shrine. In a purification ceremony, you may pray for the welfare and happiness of your new household.

The recessional concludes the service as you stroll away with your beloved.
