/ our Moroccan tours

Rest
assured, when the ruler of the kingdom departs the royal palace to visit
his desert subjects, "roughing it" is not on the agenda. Nor
will it be on yours. We've taken our knowledge of the peoples and terrain,
along with our local contacts, to create an exclusive and private experience
in the Merzouga Dunes of the Moroccan Sahara
Take
in endless vistas, the subtle interplay of rich ochres and reds and vermilions
transforming in the shifting rays of sun, hidden desert redoubts, air
that is pure as nowhere else on earth, and a night sky of a million stars.
Discover creatures venturing from their lairs, exotic flowers that bloom
wherever moisture bestows its measured gifts, and hardy desert dwellers
and nomads who have adapted and survived and thrived over the millennia.
You'll
discover endless solitary beaches and ocean panoramas, coves hidden from
landward view, surprising villages of fishermen, flocks of sheep and goats
and camels, and wandering Berbers who know where to find a freshwater
spring, a treasured patch of shade, and safety in the night.
And
when your explorations of the day are concluded, you'll retire to an encampment
fit for royalty.
Your
Royal Enclave in the Merzouga Dunes
You'll
spy our desert pavilion in the distance as you crest a dune, and appreciate
its design and respect for the environment, as you approach. White fabric
deflects the most intense heat of the daytime sun, while the high roof
and ventilation allow cooler air to collect at ground level. Gentle breezes
glide through, and flaps can be secured against anything stronger.
These
are traditional desert tents, to be sure, but they are enhanced to ensure
your comfort without encroaching on your authentic experience. Each encompasses
a full 250 square feet of ground space, covered by layers of traditional
Moroccan carpets.
Your desert suite includes a private sitting area, comfortable mattresses
(with twin beds an option), and, of course, complete bedding.
Amenities
include a carved wooden chest, a table with a beaten copper surface, poufs
(padded leather stools), copper candelabra, and mirror, all fashioned
by native artisans. In the royal manner, gauzy canopies bedeck the beds
and entry, and an assortment of soft drink beverages and bottled awaits,
should you require refreshment.

We
call these "Caidal" tents, after the chieftains of yore. And
a desert chieftain would be at ease in in these accommodations.
A separate tent, complete with layers of traditional red carpeting below
your feet, serves as our dining room. We've furnished it with a large
table and sumptuous place settings and tableware, including silver cutlery.
Your
evening gastronomic experience combines the best of Moroccan cuisine with
desert tradition. You'll start with a traditional salad of vegetables
highlighted with herbs, along with briwats (stuffed pastries). Savour
a tajine (stew) of beef and dried fruits, prepared over a charcoal fire
in a coned earthenware pot, along with couscous with chicken and seven
vegetables. Fruit and pastries follow. You may choose red or white wine
to accompany each course.
All
the while, a lutist musician will sing and play on a lute music that dates
from the days when Spain and Morocco were one
Andalusian-Moorish kingdom, and a Gnawa group will perform rhythms that
flow from the heart of Africa.
When
Royals Dine in the Sahara
:
Your dining pavilion is the perfect setting for the traditional tea ceremony,
or Tass Widou.
First you'll be offered scented water to wash your hands. Trays will appear
with glasses, a sugar bowl, mint leaves, and a silver-plated teapot. Warm
the teapot with boiling water, add mint and tea, swirl, and pour off the
water, break off chunks of sugar with a tiny hammer, throw them into the
teapot, add more water, and let it all steep, then pour the tea from on
high to aerate it.
You'll watch the rite at first, and soon you'll become an expert.
Apart
from your dining pavilion is the kitchen tent. You're welcome to look
in and witness how a delicious traditional repast is conjured up far from
any modern conveniences.
At
night, as the sands surrender the heat of the day, we'll gather around
the welcome warmth of a bonfire, and gaze at the stars above where the
constellations are painted with a clarity never seen elsewhere. When we're
ready to retire, we'll follow the light of candles and oil lamps, and
snuggle under our blankets.
In
the morning, steaming tea and coffee will provide comfort as the sun returns
its warmth. A Moroccan soup and dates add a local touch to our breakfast
of eggs and assorted breads and pastries.
Of
course, we'll also see that you enjoy conveniences never imagined by desert
chieftains.
Your private tent comes with a wash basin, shower, and warm water, as
well as toilet.
Your
staff of tentmaster, cook, waiters and night watchman will attend to your
every request to make your desert sojourn royally memorable.

Your
Private Attending Staff :

Two waiters in traditional costume
One musician playing the luth/singer of andalousian-moorish music for
more romance during the dinner, and life band of Gnawa as a welcoming

reviews: 5“ Travel In Style tours (San Francisco) is fantastic ”
May 27, 4:56 PM
We just completed a month long deluxe trip to Morocco, Egypt and Jordan
and used Travel In Style, San Francisco, for all three countries. Their
services were extra-ordinary. They work closely with you to tailor the
trip to your specifications and are very flexible. In each country we
were met promptly at the airport -- in Egypt and Jordan even inside customs!
-- by a tour representative and taken to our car for transport to our
hotels. Guides and drivers were personable and knowledgeable. When a small
glitch arose in Cairo and I e-mailed the local rep and Omar at Travel
In Style in San Francisco, the local Cairo rep called me twenty minutes
later! Omar had received the e-mail and immediately telephoned the local
agency to make sure everything was handled promptly and to our complete
satisfaction. We are experienced travelers, but I am still amazed at the
level of service we received. Highest recommendations.
Honeymoon
in Morocco and Egypt ( Posted on Frommer.com)
Hi Omar,
I
wanted to post about my experience with Travel in Style.com. The company
based in San Fran planned the most amazing trip for me and my new husband
for our honeymoon. It was a trip that combined Morocco and Egypt into
a 11 day trip. We signed up for a private tour and the only people with
us during the trip were our guides and drivers (which was great for a
initimate honeymoon vs. a tour bus with 20 plus people all waiting for
each other to go places, etc).
First,
we got to Morocco and already had a driver through the agency there to
greet us to take us to Marrekesh (from the Casablanca airport). The drive
was nice and the car clean. Our driver was really nice and was very professional.
We got dropped off and brought to the cutest hotel named Riad Chergui
(more like a bed and breakfast which was much more initimate and fun!)
and shown to our rooms after we were greeted with tea and cookies from
the staff there. They were just absolutely helpful in helping us get anything
we needed throughout our stay there (i.e. dress ironed, a bag to carry
home souveniers, cigarettes, etc.). The hotel itself was clean and charming,
and we had a very nice room with windows that opened to the courtyard
below. The pool and chairs were spotless everyday and the breakfast was
always tasty and served to us when we came to downstairs to eat. I absolutely
recommend this place to everyone.
While
in Marrekesh, we went to do activities pre-planned by Travel in Style
and everything worked out exactly as described in our itinerary. We always
had a guide and driver on time when we were going around the city and
our guide even came with us to help us bargain with the stores to get
the best souveniers at the best prices. It was a relief to us, who were
a little hesitant to visit some of these countries at first, to have a
very knowledgeable guide and to have someone around when we wanted him
and not around when we wanted to do our own discoveries. The trip was
set up so that some days we only had plans in the morning and after our
planned lunch, we would have the rest of the day to do our own things
(perfectly planned in this way!). Our lunches and dinners planned in our
itineraries were at beautifully decorated restaurants with the best service,
and we really had a chance to experience Moroccan food. It was great.
While
in Marrekesh we had a camel ride and a cooking class scheduled, which
were great since we wanted to do some different types of activities while
we were there. The camel ride was so fun and we got some great pictures.
The cooking class was hands-on and we learned how to make a Moroccan meal
with the receipe so we could take that home with us and be able to have
a Moroccan dinner. We just loved it!
We
continued on for the second half of the trip to Egypt which was planned
just as nicely. We ate at teh best restaurants and really got the feel
for the country. Here we did a lot more site seeing of course, and we
always had our guide and driver there to take us around and show us the
sites. They took us to a pyramid that was the first successful one created
and when we went, we were the only tourists there (of course we also went
to see the ones in Giza) so we really got to enjoy the scenery and pictures
without a ton of other tourists around. Also, while in Egypt, we had a
planned dinner with an actual Egyptian family who opened up their home
to us. It was great to see the country from that perspective and really
get to know what the people are like.
In
summary, these are just a few great things I could say about the Morrocco/Egypt
tour we took through Travel in Style and I HIGHLY recommend them for anyone
looking to experience these countries without all the hassles of planning
it all in detail (since they do this for you) and of trying to figure
out how to get around while there (that is where the private drivers really
came in). They really took out all our worry and we had an amazing experience.
THANKS!!
