Timbavati Private Nature Reserve

Makanyi Private Game Lodge

Makanyi is located in the southern sector of the Timbavati, a place that has been dubbed as “The Place Where Something Sacred Came Down to Earth”. Indeed, Makanyi Lodge itself is a heavenly place and, what’s more, it couldn’t be better located. The Timbavati is an area of prime game viewing, home to the “Big Five” as well as the infamous, albeit elusive, White Lions and a place to enjoy excellent sightings of the Wild Dogs, when they come through. They are in the Greater Kruger National Park, an area of over 2.4 million hectares in which animals roam freely and, being one of very few commercial lodges in this area, it is a truly wild, authentic and private experience. They are close to many world-renowned attractions, which can enhance your stay even further, making your holiday here the experience of a lifetime.

Victoria Falls

In some months, such as October and November, the Zambezi River is very low and as the channel on the Zimbabwean side is deeper than that on the Zambian side, the falls may not actually have any water flowing over them at all from the Zambian side while the falls from the Zimbabwean side always has water! Once again this is very limited to very short periods of time, depending on weather and other factors which no one can control. Of course one can stay on the Zambian side as the program states and do a day trip across to Zimbabwe. This will require a dual entry visa for Zambia and single entry visa for Zimbabwe.

Yellow Fever Vaccination

Yellow Fever Vaccinations are required for entry into Zambia and re-entry in South Africa.

    • We just wanted to let you know we made it back home after our weeklong detour through Italy. Athens was fantastic. The tours were very good, and short of heading out to the islands, I can't think of a single thing we would have rather done while there. Although we had an excellent time in Athens, Egypt was by far the highlight of our entire trip, including Italy. We just can't say enough about Ahmed, Isis, Ashraf, and all our drivers. We simply could not have done the trip without their help. Ahmed was very professional, courteous, and helpful, and always went out of his way to make sure we were where we needed to be at the right time. Our Egyptologist guides, Isis and Ashraf, were both very knowledgeable and made our visit so much better with their endless supply of information. We wore out both days long before they did. We will definitely try to come back to Egypt when we have more time to spend. Thank you so much for arranging the trip, allowing us to customize what we needed to, and putting us in touch with such good people. And please find attached pictures of us enjoying a camel ride. :-) Click here to see Adrian and Melina's Egypt photo album.
