Arriving by Sea: Cruise Passengers — Santorini
Private Shore Excursion — Santorini: Half day up to 2 PM

Cruise ships anchor in the Caldera (Some distance away from the island), and then passengers get to the island by tenders. There are two ports that tenders go to: the Athinios (new port) and the Old Port (from where guests do take the telefric/cable or mules up to the cliff to Fira.

Cruise passengers who prefer to purchase their private shore excursions, such as when you purchase this private tour from us, will be getting off at the Old Port. You will then take the Telefric/cable to the top. We will meet you at the top just outside the Telefric station at 10:00 AM (for example). The local rep. will be there carrying a sign with your name. Always on a private basis, you may change the times (of course time permitting).

You’ll enjoy a scenic drive to IA. A panoramic drive through some of the most charming Mediterranean vistas such as Oia [Ia]. A donkey ride to the port of Rate includes a roundtrip cable cart from port to the top of the Island and back. Maybe stop at Profitis llias-Perivolos for swimming. Amoudi: lunch by the sea/water front. Guests pay directly for lunch. Guests pay directly for the donkey ride. After lunch you will drive back to the pier on another scenic drive through the interior, time permitting. Of course this is a private tour, so feel free to amend or change (within the time limit of your ship departure time)

BY BOAT TO THE CALDERA, THE HOT SPRINGS, AND THIRASIA

The caldera of the volcano is one of the signature features of Santorini, a now-peaceful curiosity that bespeaks nature’s past ferocity. We’ll cross the caldera in a boat, and according to individual abilities and desires, view and amble over the twisted cliffs, and enter the remains of a castle that dates from Venetian dominance of the island. Stopping points can include hot springs rich in minerals and sulfur, and the quiet isle of Thirasia, with its unusual pink church and tranquil ways.

For a party of five to seven guests , the TOTAL hourly rate for the use of the boat and services of the captain is $560. Three hours will allow discovery of the volcano and Thirasia; with an hour or so more, the hot springs can be included.

TO THE ANCIENT SITE OF AKROTIRI ( Closed Mondays)

Santorini has its own Pompeii, a once-thriving ancient village stopped in its tracks and buried under a volcanic eruption more than 3000 years ago. Entire houses, complete with furniture and utensils, have been uncovered (even food remnants may be seen at the Fira museum). We can arrange a visit to Akrotiri, for a fascinating insight into the daily life of the inhabitants in times past, as well as a glimpse at how archaeologists are excavating this heritage, reconstructing everyday life, and making connections to historic developments in the great region of the eastern Mediterranean.

In a private air-conditioned car, this discovery is available , including guide services and admission fees. In an air conditioned minibus that carries up to ten persons, the rate is $450. (total for up to 10 guests)

This visit may be combined with an afternoon volcano discovery for a full day, or tailored with other extensions according to your requirements. It is available daily except Monday.

DAY Group EXCURSIONS ON SANTORINI

A1- SANTORINI’S BEAUTIES IN ONE DAY
Our counterparts on Santorini will call for you at about 9 a.m. to start an ambitious day. First you’ll discover Akrotiri, the village locked in time by volcanic ash. Continue to the harbor of Athinios, where you’ll embark for a boat trip across the caldera. Climb on the slopes of the volcano, and stop to soak in hot waters that spring from deep below the earth. Then it’s on to the tranquil isle of Thirasia. Your day culminates with a view of the sunset casting enchanted light over the pastel artists’ houses and cliffs of Oia. $95 per person, including transportation and guide service, offered daily except Monday.

A2 -YOU DON’T HAVE TIME FOR THE SUNSET
Are you planning to rendezvous with friends at a charming Santorini taberna? This visit includes everything just mentioned, except the sunset visit to Oia. A coach awaits at the harbor of Athinios to take you back in time for cocktails at about 5:30 p.m. $90 per person, including transportation and guide service, offered daily except Monday.

A3 – AKROTIRI AND SMALL BOAT TRIP
And for an excursion that allows some extra time in the afternoon, we’ll put off your Thirasia trip to another time, or perhaps include it in a tailor-made excursion. You’ll return from the harbor of Athinios after your visit to the soothing hot springs. $155 per person, including transportation and guide service, offered daily except Monday.

A4 – SEE THE CALDERA AND THE FAMOUS SUNSET IN OIA
Take your time after breakfast, and depart late in the morning. You’ll still have time to embark at Athinios for your discovery of the volcano and hot springs, continue to laid-back Thirisia and to view the sunset in Oia, then return to your lodgings. $90 per person, including transportation and guide service.

A5 – ONE DAY TO ENJOY THE CALDERA ( About 4 hours )
Again with a late departure, you’ll experience the volcano, hot springs, and Thirisia, and return in the late afternoon, for $ 90 per person, including transportation and guide service.

A6- SMALL BOAT TRIP
Late-morning departure to the caldera, volcano, and hot springs, with an early-afternoon return. $150 per person.

F1- FROM THE OLD PORT TO A SUNSET AT OIA
Leave in the late morning from the harbor below Fira, to visit the volcano, hot springs, the isle of Thirisia, and to view the pastel sunset over Oia before returning. $95 per person.

F2 – FROM THE OLD PORT TO ATHINIOS
This late-morning departure includes the volcano, hot springs, and Thirisia, with a return before sunset. $92 per person.

C1 – MYSTERY WHITE ISLAND (ASPRONISI) CRUISE AND BARBECUE
Leave in the late morning for the harbor of Athinios, to embark for Aspronisi, the “White Island,” named for its generous deposits of volcanic pumice, shaped into a great tableland. There will be time for a barbecue and a swim, and a voyage that approaches the newer volcano-island of Nea Kameni and older Palea Kameni, before a return to meet the bus for a mid-afternoon return. $170 per person, offered every Saturday.

C2 – SUNSET CRUISE ON THE ADONIS
Depart in the late afternoon, and view the volcano, hot springs, Thirisia, and an impressive sunset, while enjoying a buffet dinner on board. $170 per person, offered every Monday.

D5- VILLAGE DISCOVERY
Depart mid-afternoon to discover the villages of Santorini by motor coach-Panagia Episkopi, Mesa Gonia, and Pirgos, the highest settlement on the island and once the capital, with its Venetian castle now bypassed by time. Continue to Imerovigli, itself a capital in its time, and arrive in Oia in time for the sunset. $95 per person, offered every Friday.

OIA AT SUNSET
The coach will take you to Oia in time to watch the sun paint the village and cliffs in colors, and return you in time for dinner. $95 per person.

D6 BEST OF THIRA-TOUR OF FIRA INCLUDING DINNER WITH VIEW OF CALDERA
After a late-afternoon coach ride to Oia for sunset views, you’ll explore Fira, and cap your evening with dinner and a view to the volcanic caldera. $160 per person, offered every Wednesday.
